I’ll start with the good first since there tge a few things I did like and I have so much more “bad” to rant about later in the review.
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer
Written from Mara’s perspective, The Unbecoming deftly melds alternate realities. Characters rule the story, not the world-building or details or anything else. I have a severely small tiny huge gargantuan love of these characters.
And, you know, of course they’re going to have to be kind of cute too but I’m not too picky. Now I really want to read the second book, but I’ll have to wait until my birthday or something for somebody to get it for me since I’m not allowed to buy books this year!
Nope, couldn’t do it. It was excellently written and it had a plot line that was not the same as most teen books. I’m sure if I just said ‘Wow. I love the way Michelle Hodkin writes! What exactly is sexy about a guy not giving a damn what you want?

There were times where I thought she would use that crazy brain of hers, but then she would turn right around and ignore the problem. Don’t look up her name, obviously, if you don’t want to know.
And I read somewhere that this book is supposed to scare you. There was never a single point in this whole novel that made me feel like I needed to hide or was going to pee my pants. Is this the part where I care? As in, makes girls feel special and then drops them, later talking about them like they’re nothing in case of what he does to Anna. Start a new life.
She lost her best friend, her boyfriend, and her boyfriend’s sister, and as if that weren’t enough to cope with, her family moves to a new state in order to give her a fresh start.
Especially if all you want to do is “fix” said girl; take her on as your little project to make into the person you want her to be. Trivia About The Unbecoming of I was never bored, I didn’t hate the heroine. That was the whole book. I definitely enjoyed The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer for three things: The quintessential good-looking blonde rich mean teens that rule this high school are named Anna and Aiden.
He just wasn’t much of a healer, so it didn’t really work for me. You know what, Mara?
